I was driving solo Saturday morning, took the express lanes but didn't realize I had my responder tag set to HOV. I got an email from them on Tuesday that said During recent travel on the Express Lanes, your E-ZPass® Flex (***********) was set to “HOV ON” but you didn’t appear to have three people in the car.. No fine for this violation, but it did say that future violations may result in me being charged the toll amount, or if I get pulled over while in violation, I could get a ticket and a larger fine.
I know there's cameras all over the place, but I thought those were taking pics of license plates. Is someone manually reviewing those to see how many people are in car? (it's HOV-3 - how do they see in back seat?) How would that work at night? Heat signatures?
Has anyone else gotten one of these? I'm sure I've been in violation before, but this is the first time I've ever gotten a note from them.
