multiple medals - like in no other sport - prima facie evidence this is testing for the same thing?

Anyway, not to beat that to death. Remember Gary Hall Sr was swimming faster at age 40 than he did when he won Olympic medals because of improvements in stroke technique plus a lot of other things I think like swimming underwater for a third of the pool length after pushing off the wall type stuff - let's just say it's a lot different than when I was a kid.

Just as a weird aside, I was thinking about 100m sprinters and if you were to create some very similar distances so they could get more medals, eg, a 90m and a 110m dash. Well, the sprint does have some components in it, eg, guys who get out of the block fast, guys with a great top end and maybe a third component of acceleration to get to their respective top ends and you could in fact have different sprinters win the different events, eg, the guys who get out of the block fast might win the 90m while the top enders - Usain bolters - would always win the 110m. OK, too much coffee.
