How do you know lockdown didn't "work"?

We don't know what the spread in 2020 would have been like, or what the death count would have been without it. We can speculate. We do know that we locked down and some of the things that were feared such as severe hospital overflow, needing to use hospital ships docked in NY, etc, were not necessary.

Would they have been necessary with no lockdown? I have absolutely no idea. And I doubt that you do either.
