in NJ but he is from Maryland. Maybe he originally wrestled at a Virginia high school but he has wrestled at Blair at least since he was in 10th grade. If TJ is considered a VA guy, he most certainly is the no 1 guy in the state. I mean he has won everything he has entered basically in the last year. Vafiadis is part of the New Kent class which helped dethrone Christiansburg's long state championship reign. Probably a good pickup for Navy, who is coached by Kolat, who was at Campbell. I remember we were talking a few years back at how many New Kent kids would go to Tech, but Tech has pretty much gone national with their recruiting and doesn't focus on in state guys as much. I do remember Vafiadis being ranked on Open Mat at one point but it was closer to #20 at his weight and truthfully I don't remember when that was, before Covid I'm sure.

Edt: Looks like TJ wrestled at St. John's out of DC as a ninth grader.
