Quick Practice Update from Thursday
I stopped by to catch part of a softball scrimmage on Thursday. This was simply an intersquad scrimmage, so it's a very narrow glimpse at one point in time.
The game started with Keely pitching for one team and Emma Lemley pitching for the other. Kelly had to leave for class after two innings so Emma switched teams and also pitched one inning against her "own" team. Neither of them gave up a run and they both recorded several strikeouts.
Then Ivy, Ozzy, and Molly entered the game in and rotated every half inning. They were not quite as dominating as Keely and Emma, but I thought they were solid. Not a lot of hitting, but Jenna Pearson and Emma Ritter each blasted one out of the park.
Pete's commented that “We’ve had a couple of scrimmages and, as to be expected, our pitching is ahead of our hitting. My job is to keep our hitters from getting too frustrated when they don’t see the results they want right away. I’m seeing some good swing changes, we won’t correct overnight."
As I mentioned in my article, the Fall Ball games start next Friday and I think they will be entertaining.
Let's Go Hokies!!!
