including employment verification, education validation, credit checks, driving records, current or pending legal cases, and of course felonies and misdemeanors. If it is a felony person will probably not be hired.

I had HR kick back one with a felony recently telling me no way even though the event happened 20 years ago when the guy was 19. He was very skilled and had all the certifications and was relocating because his wife's new job and they simply refused. If it is a misdemeanor, it is best to disclose in the interview and say if it shows up on the background check this is the reason and explain it away. Credit history is not that important unless you had wage garnishments for skipping out on child supprt. Driving records only if the job requires they be drivinging alot. A person should not flat out lie on education but they almost never ever check. Some employers ask for a copy of a diploma and for $100.00 you could probably have one made. If they ask the University to send transcripts there is no getting around that one. Finding acceptable job applicants right now is brutal lots of things will let slide. HR in most cases are cheapskates and will do minimal background checks anyway. Background checks are also specific to the state. If a person lived in other states they would have to pay for individual background checks from each state.
