This is kind of throwing away UNCs competitive advantage
They're basically doing what every other team that can't recruit dominant big men has to do. UNC makes their money historically by pounding the offensive boards, out-manning people in the post, and running the floor with that depth. It works even better in the ACC because they're the permier destination for dominant bigs and nobody can really compete with them unless they have a system like UVA.
Guys like Kennedy Meeks, Isaiah Hicks, Tony Bradley, Armando Bacot, Dayron Sharpe, Walker Kessler, etc are all traditional bigs that went to UNC to play that role and they were dominant for it.
Davis is basically saying he can out-coach everyone else who has already moved to that strategy, rather than force them to play UNCs game which is what Roy always did. Schools like Gonzaga, Villanova, Duke, Louisville, UVa, Michigan, MSU, etc already play 4 out offenses.
Imagine how average UNC would've been last year without their bigs passing to eachother on the interior. It's much harder to find dominant bigs than slashing guards. [Post edited by soflahokie at 10/13/2021 11:44AM]
