Crowd control is always a challenge

However, I think so many folks who complain about the hooligans of the students. they need to be polite and respectful. I wonder 1) if they went to college and ever was a student and 2) selective memory.

I went to school in the 1970;s the families and the old folks thought the students were roughneck and felt they needed to leave. We were the rodiest drunk kids ever. Now many of these folks are in the fifties and they must have forgotten everything. ( IM sure they never have told the kids when they had too much to drink, or a keg party etc.). Very generation of students are branded that way.

In regards to crushing to the stadium for enter sandman. That crush has always been there, Everyone getting their last cocktail, their last bbq etc. That happens at all stadiums, VT just needs to plan for the surge.

General Seating was the way to go, however there has to be much more expertise applied after the season on the egress plans for lane. The stadium has lots of very tight walking areas to get to major portals into the stadium which makes it very hard to get in.

I think maybe the best solution is basically limit the general admision tickets for students to be process only on the south end zone where there is alot of open area to process alot of people. Also re-engineer the number of gates that can process people through that side. The entrances on the north side beside the field house should be limited .

Lane, while have enough seating capacity does not have the capacity for expanded services. on both side. Significant work should be to expand the concession, food and services area out west of the stadium and create a new cover piazza for concessions and that would open up the area under the stadium for circulation. Also with that additional new portals into in the stadium on the west side and distribute the crowds.

Last and expensive, do like the NFL and purchase a WIFI hub able to handle 70000 plus instruments at a time. For a major university where new technology is a hallmark, there should be no excuse why instantaneous wifi service should be provided. IF Lane should be a sample for 21st century on demand cashless concessions and paperless ticketing and video on demand and data analytics for all the participants the wifi infrastructure should be essential.
