1. Our best RB (Herbert) is gone, and there is no one to replace him.

2. There has been ZERO RB development behind him. Herbert arrived on campus fully trained by another staff. We have 11 RB's on scholarship for a position where only one can play at a time, and not a single one appears to be a P5 back. Other than Herbert who arrived fully trained by someone else, Fu has NEVER had a RB drafted into the NFL whom he has fully trained.

3. Poor coaching staff selection. No one on Fuente's staff appears capable of understanding how to conduct a running attack, certainly not Fu with his pass happy B12 experience. It also doesn't help when you appoint assistant coaches who also appear to have no understanding of the position and have never played the position (Zohn Burden, Lechtenberg).

4. Our best O-lineman was drafted last year. Our next 2 best O-lineman and 4 star players (Nestor, Hudson) have left the program due to disagreements about their training under Vance Vice (as per Nestor's interview). The remaining O-lineman seem incapable of generating a decent running attack and another promising lineman Dzansi is injured. Brock Hoffman appears also to be not as good as advertised.

5. Poor RB recruiting overall(which relates to #2). We are probably tops in P5 in RB scholarships (11) for an inexplicable reason, most of whom are G5 caliber recruits. However this is a typical G5 tactic and Fu has never left his G5 philosophy behind. G5 teams can't get good RB recruits so they recruit as many as they can so that they might get a "diamond in the rough". Unfortunately this hurts the rest of the team as you don't have enough scholarships for other crucial positions.

6. Poor passing attack. This is surprising given we hired Fu on the premise of a potent passing attack. If you can't pass, then other opponents will crowd the line with 8 guys all game long and make running difficult. Pitt unfortunately has given the rest of the teams on our schedule the blueprint to beating us, although it wasn't a huge secret.

7. We continue to run a RB by Committee philosophy, which means no RB ever gets into the flow of the game. It also hurts them when Fu decides that the QB and WR's get about half of the other carries.
