Fu has no real system. No overarching philosophy of how he wants to construct a team. I thought he did when we hired him, but it turned out he does not. Our offense is a mish-mash hodgepodge of several different philosophies, all planned and executed poorly. Our defense was Bud's scheme and still is to some degree, with very mixed results.

This all affects recruiting too: when you don't have that initial framework, you're not recruiting a certain type of player. Fu and crew just seem to shoot from the hip in recruiting, see what sticks and hope it works. They have talented players, but without a plan to coach them up to a specific identity, much of that talent it wasted.

Oddly, it's more or less the exact opposite of what Mike Young does: MY has an extremely clear idea of his system, recruits "his" players to it, and doesn't give a damn what outsiders say because it's been proven to work and Coach Young has major confidence in it. With Fuente, 6 years in... I still have no idea what our system or identity really is.
