I used to think they were the same size as a cardinal too, until...


...I put in my feeder. Not only are Blue jays obnoxious, they usually show up in 2s or 3s.

If you want to keep squirrels out of your feeder, put a rat guard on the pole. Haven't had one get past the rat guard yet...

The first picture is where it should be placed...on the pole below the feeder. Just make sure it's far enough away from anything the squirrels can jump onto it.

The second picture is what's happening at your feeder every night.
