Southampton had Ashley Lee and Cyrus Lawrence and several more great players.
I seem to recall that they sent four to Virginia Tech that year.
Our running back was no pushover, in fact he was a big bully that used to run over all of us in the sandlot. He did manage to score one lone short yardage touchdown against Southampton during that game. But for most of that game, all I can remember was him getting tossed around like a rag doll. That was quite a memorable football game played that day out in the peanut fields in tidewater. I shall never forget it, ever.
