There are very few black coaches. The majority of players are black.


If you think coach selection should be blind to race, you should agree that these numbers don't line up and this is a problem. We are not currently in a situation where coach hiring is blind to race. If the reason is for this discrepancy is not racism, can you please share what you believe it is?

If we agree that this discrepancy a problem, what do you suggest is a solution other than actively hiring more black coaches?

If we're not interested in solving this problem at VT (and I'm not saying we necessarily need to; we're one school of many), can we agree that having a black coach may be better for recruiting? Should we be ignoring that benefit to help ensure that we're not putting white coaches at a disadvantage?
