He is not a "G5 guy". While I have reservations about his lack


of hc experience, he has far more experience in P5 schools than G5 schools. Alabama and PSU are not G5 schools.
IMHO. candidates VT can reasonably expect to attract and afford will be P5 coordinators/assistants or G5 hc. We went the G5 hc route with Fu, who did not have any P5 experience (TCU was not Big XII when he was there). That has not worked out for a variety of reasons, one of which I believe is that he has a G5 mentality. I don't object to a G5 hc candidate, but I want them to have P5 experience.
I do wish Huff had more experience as hc, but he checks all other boxes imo.
