but basically celebrating the fact your football team stinks to the point of firing the coach somehow escapes me.

I hope for the best, just like everyone else. One can be excited for what might lie ahead without being happy at what is going on in the here and now. And right now, short of this announcement that many are simply happy to be right about above all else, there is really nothing to be happy about.
