Even if JC happens to win the final 2 regular season games, the ACC

Championship Game, and bowl game, it still may not be a good move for VT in the long-run to remove the interim tag from his title. Don't get me wrong, I love the passion he expressed in the PC and his love for VT. I do think he could be a good/great HC some day. Maybe even VT's HC some day after he has gained experienced somewhere else first. My concern with Hokie fans wanting to keep going back to the Former VT Player/Former VT Coach Well so often is that it may stunt the program's long-term growth.

Yes, there may be benefits to hiring former players or coaches because of their familiarity with how VT did things in the past. However, always remember that the only constant in life is change. So the way VT did things during the Beamer Era may not work to the same level in this new era of college football. If a sports program truly wants to grow, then it (including the fans) must realize there is more than 1 blueprint for success out there. If Notre Dame and its fans insisted on every new HC do things the exact same Knute Rockne did them, then I can guarantee you that Notre Dame wouldn't be the program it is today.

Now if the administration and fans don't want to see the program grow, which is perfectly fine, then VT should continue to keep going back to the Former VT Player/Former VT Coach Well until it runs dry. Just don't be surprised if the HCs aren't able to obtain the same level of success Beamer did during his glory years because college football changed and VT didn't. @NokieHokie may have said it best, "If you live your life too much in the rear view mirror, then you miss out on everything that is in front of the windshield" or something to that effect.
