Trax started 3rd period with choice

and +1:18 RT. Correct? So basically the match is 1 to 1. Why not go neutral and just wrestle for a takedown? instead of trying to escape from a larger opponent in 18 seconds, which he couldn't do. So he lost his 1 point and had to wrestle from behind. Just asking and 2nd guessing.
