Some of the companies just don't want to deal with security. The Louis Vuitton people have resisted using leashes on items, added security personnel, or other anti-theft measures because it would detract from the customer experience. Frankly knockoffs are a bigger threat to their profitability, so fighting that is where the attention is placed.
