Thanks for all of your hard work! Re: game write-up
I appreciate your article and I know that you obviously worked hard to get it out as soon as possible after the game. I couldn’t watch the game until later so it was great timing.
Just an idea, you may want to read your article out loud to yourself. You’ll identify where you accidentally left out words or your sentence structure might benefit from changing some things around.
Ex: you used “though” as part of your halftime game description. As an adverb, you would normally use it to express an idea or opinion that weakens the statement of your main clause- instead, you support your main clause with additional facts: VT was losing by 8 pts at the half; this opinion is supported by their crappy shooting numbers. Damn facts!!
Ex: with :45 that VT a two-point advantage.
At 1 am, I totally get it. That’s why I’ll read something out loud bc my brain will fail to insert words like that, but my speaking it will point it out. That works for me, at least.
Thanks again for your hard work. Keep it up! I know it’s tougher to stay motivated or find the silver lining when the teams are losing.
In terms of MBB, this was definitely an awakening. I stand by my own opinion that the team just wasn’t prepared for either of these teams, and with better preparation, they could have beaten both of them- in fact, we literally saw that in Game 2.
I don’t know if CMY will come out and say that publicly anytime soon, but my gut tells me, he says that at some point after they get back after the holiday. It does no good for a fiery speech after two losses once you lose the players away to their families for the next several days.
I know you’re not in NYC, but that might be something interesting to keep a tab on throughout the season. While much attention will be paid to football ins and outs over the next six weeks, the payoff for MBB is in the Spring and the retrospective analysis at the end of the season. I’d want to build that now- get CMY’s opinions now as to why he says he thinks they lost, and then ask him the same questions in April. He can word salad his answers now, but asking todays questions about this tournament’s results again five months ago, he may provide you a complete different perspective and set of answers.
Good luck!
