I think he would be a good hire on the cheap and checks a lot of boxes for VT:

- He's a very good recruiter of VA, MD, and PA. We've lost a bunch of kids to him from VA (Devyn Ford, Beamon, Brandon Smith, Gross-Matos)
- Excellent defensive coach which is what VT cares about, Penn St has finished top 10 more than they haven't under him
- Has been at a big boy program for a long time
- Knows VT's legacy and learned under Bud/Beamer as a GA
- Has been there for Franklin's entire rise as a coach including 4 years as his associate HC
- Not likely to use VT as a stepping stone
- Penn St is pissed they're losing him
- Isn't going to be bringing in "his guys" so he will be the CEO type coach we need on offense

What he needs to improve:
- Never seen him in front of a camera, will he be boring Fuente 2.0
- Almost no name recognition so not expecting a big recruiting bump in year 1
- No HC experience, but we're at the point now where it's either a G5 guy or bust which we already tried
