All total guesswork... look at Clemson hiring a receivers coach named Dabo


We beat a down Alabama in 1998 because they made a series of bad coaching hires.

We saw that offensive success at a G5 school doesn't equate directly to success at VT so Whit looked for other attributes this go round. Only time will tell.

That said, I do agree that an ACC title most years will be a ceiling but that's more money and resources than anything. VT will never be a yearly playoff contender unless the ACC champ gets an automatic berth in an 8 team field.
