He is a legend in VT football
He took VT to places and notoriety that had never before been achieved at the university. Admission and standards for admissions rose during his tenure. Literally millions of dollars were pumped into VT that weren't there prior to his accomplishments as a football coach at VT. His teams rose the profile of the entire university, and that isn't even an arguable point.
Not to mention his innovations on special teams made it into the HOF long before he personally did, because they changed the fundamental way that part of the game was coached and regarded.
I think that qualifies him as a legit legend as far as college football goes. [Post edited by hokieone at 12/01/2021 1:20PM]
