He joins 40 years of UVA coaches having a similar final memory

You have to go back 50 years for a VT loss to not be part of their final season. Hoo Legend (I imagine) George Blackburn (Yeah, I had to see how far back this streak went, it just got more and more amusing; but someone else can check the guys before that), would tally a win against VT in the 1970 season, his last as a head coach, opener.

Then, Sonny Randle and Don Lawrence (No photos) were spared having their losses to VT at the end of their seasons, but both had the loss to VT just the same. Sonny as part of a 8 game losing streak before moving on to Marshall. Don Lawrence as part of a mediocre season before a long journey through a number of assistant positions.

George Welsh stuck around for the bowl (another L), but you have to think that 42-21 feeling as recorded in the photo stuck in his mind.

Al Groh's last game as head coach 42-13, the feeling documented below.

To Mike London's credit, I couldn't find him looking sad at the game (he just looks like a coach?), and while UVA fans would rank him last among the recent 4 I'd guess, he's done fairly well for himself since leaving UVA. Hoo was the problem?

Finally, Bronco.
