When I was 10ish, I was at my grandparents in Buena Vista. We were driving to Bristol (halfway point) to meet my aunt, who was dropping off her son (my cousin) for us to spend the week together. We stopped to get breakfast in Wytheville. Upon getting to Bristol, my grandma realized she did not have her purse, so she assumed she left it at breakfast. When we got back to the restuarant, a man had left his number with the staff saying he noticed someone had left a purse and to give him a call.

We met the man nearby to get the purse. He said it was the right thing to do and wouldn't accept any reward. He said used that as a teaching moment for his kids to always do the right thing. What he didn't realize is that it also left an impression on me. I will always remember that.
