...as her boyfriend is still in high school (TIC). But here are my thoughts, for what they're worth:

1) If you have homefield advantage, you essentially control the outcome of the game. In other words - if you don't want your daughter fooling around with this guy, then hosting them in your home brings the odds of that happening to the absolute minimum possible. She's going to want to see him regardless of the venue, so allowing him to visit her in your home allows you to monitor the situation and control the outcome. Forcing them to hang out elsewhere eliminates any control you have.

2) You want the boyfriend to respect you. If you are inviting and make him feel welcome in your home and like he's part of your family, he'll be much more likely to respect you. And if he respects you, he's not going to want to do something that would disappoint you. I know this from personal experience. My in-laws were extremely welcoming to me from the very first time I met them, when I was still just categorized as a "friend". They knew I was interested in their daughter, but they were extremely kind and inviting and that made a big difference to me. I was a "good kid" anyway, but the fact that I respected my girlfriend's parents was extra motivation to be on good behavior. I didn't want to let them down.

3) On the slim odds that this kid ends up being a long-term relationship, you have a good opportunity now to expose him to how you raised your daughter and to also show him how you view marriage and how you treat your wife. He may have had a great upbringing and might have already have a firm grasp on all that, but you never know. The more he is around your family, the better the chances of him truly taking good care of your daughter.
