Since VT4Natty's post stated "our first Natty" and not "our first NCAA

Natty," then why should it matter whether the sport is sanctioned by the NCAA or not? The NCAA is just 1 of many intercollegiate athletic associations out there, so it shouldn't be the only metric when deciding how many national titles a school has unless you qualify the titles by association (which VT4Natty didn't do in the post). Now a stronger argument could be that the VT Athletic Department doesn't provide any funding for club sports. However, even that argument has 1 giant hole in it because the club sports do receive some funding from VT. It just happens to be another part of VT that isn't affiliated with the Athletic Department.
