Mercedes Plant is right outside Tuscaloosa, Honda, Hyundai, and Toyota all

have large plants as well. Alabama has more industry than VA, but that's not the issue. I''ve lived in the Gulf Coast region for over 15 years now. Alabama's biggest advantage is the size of the fan base and big money that supports the program that aren't official boosters. A lot of Alabama fans don't split their loyalty with the pros. There's regional pride associated with Alabama or any SEC school being good at football. And what has happened now is that Nick Saban has turned Alabama into such a National brand, it's a no brainer for a 5 start to take the offer. There's over 70 active NFL players that played for Alabama. There's 3 starting QBs. And 5 star or 4 star player is already thinking NFL, and those kind of stats make it any decision for these kids.
