I don't think we've ever had a better QB coach than Kevin Rogers, but most of the "good" QB coaches take credit for one of their greats. Like Fu did with Lynch and Dalton, or Loefler being Tom Brady's best friend somehow makes him a great QB coach. None of those guys turned out to be QB whisperers but you get the point. There is nothing sexy about the hire. QB coaches with more impressive qualifications at other P5 programs have more accomplishments to brag about, and I think it will matter to recruits.
