How often do you hear about other schools making the same "mistake"
with their greatest athlete in the sport that matters most at the school? I think a reason people raised an eyebrow when they heard about this oversight is because there still may be some controversy associated with MV1's name.
Yes, MV1 has paid for his crimes and he should be given a second chance to be a productive citizen. However, there are some people in society that will never forgive MV1 for his crimes and they truly believe MV1 shouldn't be given that second chance. In that regards, I do understand why VT may be cautious about how they use MV1 to promote the school and/or the football program.
Unless VT is completely absentminded or someone has an axe to grid against VT, then the public will never hear the complete story on how they came up with the list. Until more information becomes available, then I don't believe any plausible explanation should be eliminated from the table. So it could have been an honest mistake/oversight or someone decided that it would be in VT's best interest not to include MV1 in the Zoom call because of the controversy associated with his name. It is even possible that VT thought it was in a damned if it does and damned if it doesn't situation because someone would be offended regardless of whatever decision VT made.
