95% of the first half, Michigan could do nothing, and VT dominated....and all that domination led to 6 points late in 2nd quarter. VT should have had 14, 17, 21 points before Michigan scored their first point (even with that Michigan team having a good red zone D). Never should have been close, and OT never should have been played. Maintaining possession of ball was deemed as/more important than scoring. Denying Michigan (and most teams) offensive possessions was a huge philosophy back then. That would work vs lesser teams. In the bowls vs better competition, not so much. We even saw it too much with Fuente, imho.
