A couple of time the last few years we’ve won the dual (the battle), but lost in the ACC tourney (the war). Of course we want to win both (love beating NC State at anytime) but so many of these matches could go either way - I struggle with which we’d rather win. Seems like the tourney helps more and especially being “most recent” for NCAAT seeding (at individual level).

For example - THidlay over Bolen in ACCT last year set him up with a much more manageable path in NCAAT - and he capitalized making it to the Final. Bolen had a brutal path - was so happy he was able to AA.
