My wife's 1st cousin moved back here this summer from Dallas, TX after being gone since 1985.

She was coming home from Food City in Chilhowie Sunday night slipped on some ice in her driveway and fell down her stairwell that leads to the basement. Her neighbor heard her crying out and went to check on her. She was crumpled in the bottom of the stairwell.

She told the neighbor to call my wife (retired ER RN) so he did and she went down there. Sure enough she was in terrible pain and couldn't be moved. My wife called 911 and she was transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon and from there she was sent to Johnson City Medical Center.

She broke her pelvis (left side), the left femur, right wrist and 4 ribs (right side). She had surgery down in Johnson City yesterday and is still in ICU. She's 67yo in good health and "tiny"...we're her only family so we're working with the social services coordinator and trying to find a rehab center up here when she's ready to be transferred.

If that ain't enough my niece was diagnosed with COVID and isn't feeling well...she's fully vaccinated FWIW.
