is in the North Division. Then again, the article does indicate it is only one possible scenario. I guess I am more curious to see what happens when Oklahoma and Texas leave the Big XII for the SEC. At least I'm assuming those divisions would be more permanent regardless if the Big XII remains at 12 or expands to either 14 or 16 members at some point in the future. Does the Big XII opt for a North/South alignment or East/West alignment to try to reduce travel time? If the Big XII opts for an East/West alignment, then the divisions could look like this:

East: UCF, WVU, Cincy, Iowa St, Kansas, and Kansas St

West: Oklahoma St, Houston, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, and BYU

By opting to go with this alignment, then it might make it easier for the conference to expand to 16 (rebranding itself as the Big XVI) and skip expanding to 14 members. The Big XVI could then look like this:

East: UCF, WVU, Cincy, Iowa St, Memphis, Expansion #2, Expansion #3, and Expansion #4

West: Kansas, Kansas St, Oklahoma St, Houston, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, and BYU

Whereas if the Big XII/Big XIV/Big XVI wants to stick with the North/South alignment, then both divisions could easily be spread out and potentially make it tough to build rivalries with the expansion teams.
