Actually, that brings up a question I've always wondered about...


not off topic, but tangential...

What is the real reason behind the rule to turn off cell phones on planes? It isn't that it interferes with the planes nav systems because we all know that a huge chunk of the phones on a given plane are still on. If it was a real problem, it would be more than a voluntary request. So, B777 or any of you engineer types, what is the real reason?
