Our bench is full of studs or at a minimum several individuals on the bench are better than our starters. It’s the “Mike Young is dumb because he’s playing guys who somehow aren’t as good as the folks we have on the bench”.

Murphy seems to be a big target of these discussions. Even seen posts about sitting Aluma more. (Note: he’s statistically one of the best players in the conference).

I’ve seen Young coach for many years at wofford. On his good teams he always relied on his bench and rotated deep into the bench. I can tell you without hesitation if the players on the bench were better than the starters he would be playing them. He was Acc coach of the year 2 years ago. He beat chapel hill twice at home in three years at Wofford. I think he can out coach most of this message board.

Hopefully all the bench can improve to the point we can rely on them more. But this continued narrative that “________ needs to play more” because they are better than ____________” is becoming comical.

Mike Young is an experienced enough coach I’ll let him coach the team and reserve judgement until we get through the season.

The past guys who were mentioned as needing to play more in recent years ( Cone, Bam, etc) have found homes at nice little schools were they currently are standouts on 4-5 win teams. I am sure any day they’ll transfer to Duke and prove MY wrong.

The clanging drum for the reserves to play more is morphing into an annoying set of wind chimes.
