Alleyne- Inside the numbers
His pull up & mid range game (not to the rim) 2 pt attempts is really what is hurting us this year.. much more than his 3 pt attempts. But his performance at true road games takes him to new low water mark levels that are probably worse than we realize.
Currently, out of the top 100 ACC players in minutes (Alleyne is #20 fyi) he has the 2nd worst 2 pt FG% of anyone at 32.6%. This is really bad and below his 3 pt% at 35%. The only player worse than him is a seldom used guard named Onyebuchi Ezeakudo (#75 in mins) from Pitt who is the worst player in the ACC on an absolute level. Normally you will see much higher percentages from 2 for guards like Alleyne (Storm is at 57%, Hunter at 42%).
At true away games, these numbers really fall off a cliff. We know how bad they look in real time with most being off balance, off the dribble and highly contested but he is 5/31 on 2 pt FG's for 16% and 9/32 on 3 pt FG's for a 28% make rate.
Best and prob only chance for him to get his head straight this week is at home vs Miami. I do think he needs to totally eliminate his garbage mid range game and focus on repeatable opps from 3 where he can actually build some long term confidence.
