I think VT fans need to be prepared... how far back VT is
The flrst shocker, is the when recruiting starts. The big programs reach out through their networks in 8th and 9th grade. (we can diatribe how bad or good that is, but that is reality). That is where the relationships begin. Penn State and UNC had about 6 years to kick start into va from VT in the past. Coach Pry was part of the Penn State team and knows EXACTLY what happened. So VT was in a terrible disadvantage in 2022, - it is what it is-.. In 2023, the players have already narrrowed their teams, and VT is very late into the game and very very very hard to make changes. The players dont have a long term relationship with the staff like PSU or UNC has. 2024, might be the first year, we see results and start blocking them out.
That doesn't mean VT cannot be aggressive, and go after the other schools and see if they break a relationship, but I dont think Pry's group works that way. its values and principles and that will earn long term support. Getting sustained support from coaching staffs, aau experts and other connected folks builds with time.
This is not 1988 Virginia anymore
