Do the endowments get bigger?

I have ready articles from at least two mainstream swimming outlets that for these sports, when they can start paying for academics or whatever stipend is provided, the available money whether in endowments or annual donations will not increase substantially, but more money will go to fewer individuals which will drive rosters down. It's a shame what is happening to collegiate swimming in general, but this may further drive mens teams into the ground with fewer and fewer opportunities. Swim teams are also generally have the highest GPA on campus. For me, my daughter gets a generous Summer stipend based on her high academic performance, but I can see some of the marginal athletes just being driven out.
