I used to not understand how someone could accidentally bring a gun

somewhere. Until I accidentally tried to bring a knife on a plane.

So, yeah, it can happen.

Although in your specific case, I would still be skeptical, except in some pretty specific circumstances. If it was a gun they had in their car, I might buy it. Especially if it was a rifle. I'm struggling to think of a reason why a minor should have a handgun in their possession at all, much less at school.

But if it was a handgun in their backpack, I'm struggling to picture a scenario where that can happen accidentally.
