I remember once some athlete petitioned the NCAA to allow him to have a YouTube site playing guitar or something. It may have been even a fundraiser, not sure. Point is, he was told no. Everybody went nuts on the mean bully NCAA. I said at the time, this player should absolutely be allowed to do this. But here is the problem the NCAA faces, the first good guy raises a couple hundred bucks for some nonprofit....the next guy figures out that a rich booster will pay him $100k for his channel as long as he signs with X team. There has never been a way to regulate it half way. And, if we're being honest, ruling with an iron fist failed as well. I guess the way I see it, as long as there is enough passion that this kind of money can be thrown around in interest of sports, there will always be corruption of any rule. No rules, like we basically have right now, is just a bit more chaotic since it is now in the open air.
