Re: Target board question.

I could be wrong about this, but I think most coaches keep this stuff pretty close to the vest.

On the one hand, every top tier team is chasing down the same 10-20 can't miss guys - and you can learn their names easily enough yourself by reading the narrow end of the final bracket sheets at Beast of the East, Ironman, Powerade, Super 32, Flo Nationals, NHSCA's, etc. Becoming a top 5 team makes it more likley that a few of these guys fall VT's way.

Then there are wrestlers just one step behind that group where the coaches have identified more upside. Maybe they weren't in a room that pushed them hard enough in HS. Maybe a coach can see flashes of excellence mixed with a few weaknesses that can be fixed. This is where great recruiters separate themselves - and VT has done very well here. These wrestlers can become AAs and even national champs. These are the targets that the coaches probably guard more closely. I have a sense of two, and they've been at quite a few Dresser camps - so there is mutual interest - but there's a lot that goes on in the process. Can VT offer enough scholarship money; do they fit into the line-up 2-3 years down the road, etc.? I don't even want to say their names because the more they fly under the radar screen, the better.
