The future: current farm system, back to back top 3 picks, and Kevin Maitan

At this point, we won't be competitive til 2018. If you live in Atlanta go watch the AAA pups in Gwinnett.

The current farm system is arguably the best in baseball, certainly the deepest. Swanson and Albies looked great this spring, and will be the future middle infield pairing for a decade. Kolby Allard has ace potential assuming his back problems are gone. Newcomb, Blair, Touissant, Fried, Banuelos, Sims, and Jenkins provide plenty of viable starting options.

Ronald Acuna, probably shift to OF, is a name to watch and should move into Atlanta's top five prospects next year.

Coppollela will draft a top three arm, like Puk, or the best position player (Ray, maybe Rutherford). They also have two other picks in the top 45.

The Braves will spend big in the international market and appear to be the favorite to sign Kevin Maitan who is drawing Miggy Cabrera comparisons from international scouts. He's only 16 but is already talked about as a once in a generation prospect. They are considered favorites for a top five international position player prospect.

This year's team will play for the top pick in 2017 draft. Should be at least a top three selection.

There is no hope this year. Next year, it's the Baby Braves all over again with a young pitching staff and the addition of Albies/Swanson to the infield. 2018 is the next competitive season. The Braves should have at least a six year playoff window starting in 18.
