This, IMO, is more related to the overall VT endowment, not athletics

specifically.

The schools HJ mentioned have VERY large endowments, so they give out more scholarship and financial aid that is based on academics and/or need.

If an athlete happens to qualify for that, then hey, great benefit for that school.

VT doesn't have as much NON-ATHLETIC scholarship money to hand out.
