Could it be.....


that there just wasn't a candidate WB could get that he felt strongly about? I doubt one year's salary and the savings associated is a huge influence. My guess is WB had his short list and no definitive takers due to timing and individual circumstances of the targets. Rather than settle it was preferable to extend and in the grand scheme of things one year was not viewed as a huge cost to the future of the program. The real curve is if significant progress is made in this ensuing year and further clouds the decision process, in my opinion.
