There shouldn't be any change to the OOC format
The Big Ten will still require their members to play 1 game against a P5 school. The ACC will still have its 1 game against a P5 school and Notre Dame requirement. The Big XII, Pac-12, and SEC will still have whatever requirements. Also, remember that just about every P5 conference has a conference network, so it and its media partners will want quality content to justify the amount of money the networks are paying the conferences.
Let's not kid ourselves that the Committee will select a G5 school for the Playoff. What probably needs to happen is for the P5 conferences to decide to increase the number of games they play against each other. I think it should probably be increased to 3 games so a team can face an opponent from potentially 3 different P5 conferences. It could help better determine the strength (or weakness) of a conference win (or loss). Plus, it can help determine the seeding for the Playoff. Also, it would be helpful if the P5 conferences decide together how many conference games to play so the Committee has a more close apples-to-apples comparison. If the P5 conferences want to continue playing either a G5 or FCS school, then the format would be 8 conference games, 3 P5 games, and 1 G5/FCS game.
