Our family's Pearl Harbor Day story

My Dad was a career Army combat infantry officer (WW2, Korea, Nam) and then spent his final 17 career years as a Foreign Service Officer in the State Dept. His last State Dept post was Tokyo.

He was the Embassy Admin Officer and on many occasions he would take his entire Japanese staff, other US staff and he and my Mother on field trips to Japanese historical sights.

They'd travel by bus and on the way home they'd all begin to sing songs and one person or another would lead the group. Invariably someone would suggest "Remember Pearl Harbor" and all the US and Japanese would sing it enthusiastically together
