Maybe a new trend at HWT
you used to rarely see them ever shoot the legs with much success at the AA level, but Gwiz started it circa 2013 taking out Tony Nelson, now we see it with Snyder, Walz, Kasper, and Schaffer (OSU). Maybe others I'm missing but that's based on the limited ones I've seen. Kasper is the first I've seen use the counters and scrambles as well as the lightweights, especially his over the back ankle grabs. I knew Ty and Snyder were more classically trained wrestlers from lighter weights prior to college so they'd attack the legs. Seeing their NCAA SF last year was a thing of beauty, especially Walz tying it with his 1st period leg attack.
Anyone who saw Schaffer vs Stoll (IOWA) saw the contrast in 2 styles where Stoll just tried to push the lighter Schaffer out of bounds for stall calls and never got a takedown or even shot.
I could see Ty come out after a few other matches and sit next to the coaching staff in fairly good spirits. No ideas what they really said, but hopefully after letting it sink in said something like "I'm ready to learn, what can you tell me".
