I've watched almost every game this season and I
thought Kenny was doing a good job coaching early in the season. Of course we were playing a lot of mid-majors, but the win at Auburn was surprising to me. Our early conference wins vs. UNC and Clemson weren't surprising. Both programs are down. The loss at ranked Miami wasn't a bad loss but Miami exposed our lack of depth in the 4th quarter. We were fortunate to beat Wake at home. Wake made a run in the 4th quarter that almost beat us. Once again, our lack of depth showed up. From that point on, every team's strategy was to wear us down. I watched every opposing team constantly replace 2-3 players every 3-4 minutes while we didn't have the luxury in most games. We also had some key players in early foul trouble which made matters worse. Even if we had 15 available players, I doubt we would still beat FSU, Notre Dame, Duke, and Louisville simply because they are loaded with 4 and 5 star prospects, many of them McDonald's All-Americans. Our players have played hard all season. I believe them when they say they haven't given up despite an 11 games losing streak. Our bench support isn't ACC quality this season. Has Kenny made some coaching mistakes? I would say "yes", but name a coach who hasn't. Like Kenny said 3 weeks ago, "It is what it is." I feel bad for Regan Magarity. She is being brutalized under the basket. Other teams are surrounding her with players who are taller and bigger. Sidney has experienced the same treatment but she's more of a power forward than a center. Ideally, I'd like to see Sidney as a small forward and Regan as a power forward. Chanette Hicks is a warrior. I hope that she develops an outside shot this off season. If she does, she'll be a nightmare to defend. I think Vanessa's problem the past 2 season's has been confidence. She'll leave Tech as one of our top 10 players. Sami Hill gives 100% effort every game. I also admire her for her positive vibe whenever she's on the court. I credit Kenny for her improvement this season.
