We'll know more about this team this week

when #26 Elon visits on Wednesday and we play at #10 Duke on Saturday. Tech has only played one road game to date.

From what I've observed thus far, our women's lacrosse program is improved. We are faster and more physical. Our physical fitness is the best that I've ever seen. John Sung is a builder of programs. After 7 games, I believe he's ahead of schedule. Beating BC was a big deal since it was out first ACC win since 2012. It was the first conference win where we dominated the opposing team. Tech took it to #17 BC in the second half. After the JMU loss (the game before BC), Sung said that the team had to find a way to finish and they did against BC. JMU is a quality program with a great goalie. We stood with them for three-quarters of that game but they willed themselves to win. Sung wanted that same attitude from his team and he got it.

Our starting line-up has many of Burker's players on it. Tristan McGinley is having an All-American type season. Her sister was an All-American at Rutgers. Sung added 4 transfers. Marissa Davey from UMBC has shown to be the best of those so far. Abby Wilson (JHU) is also starting. Sung also got some of his recruits from Winthrop to commit to Tech. Celia Terreri, the daughter of former New Jersey Devils' goalie Chris Terreri, is on this season's team. IMO, McGinley, Davey, Zan Biedenharn, Kristine Loscalzo, Emma Harden, and Taylor Caskey are all good enough to start on any ACC team. I like what I've seen from Meagh Graham at goalie. John Sung has also instilled much needed confidence in a program that has been beaten down for decades. Sung has received commitments from numerous ACC-quality players. From all the articles that I've read about John Sung, he's somewhat surprised that Tech has never been able to succeed in women's lacrosse with its ACC membership, academics, and facilities. I can't wait to see where this program is in 3 to 4 years. I'm sure other schools will be going after Sung if he turns our program around. I just hope we have him long enough to permanently change the image of our women's lacrosse program. Kind of what Kevin Dresser did with our wrestling program.
