That's the silly part and it's no less silly because other coaches are doing it. You'll have to give me the stats on how these types of "offers" actually pan out. I'll accept that it's a way to start developing the relationship with the player but to believe that any 8th grader is definitely going to develop into the type of player that fits your scheme in 4 or 5 years is a stretch.
